AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
Welcome to the Department of Automotive Engineering.
Automotive engineering is a branch of mechanical engineering. It incorporates mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, and safety engineering elements as applied to the design, manufacture, and operation of automobiles. Although we may not go deeper into each level at this level, some of the engineering disciplines important to the automotive engineering students are; vehicle technology, where the learners learn about all the subsystems attached to the vehicle frame chassis like the braking and suspension systems. Engine technology deals with all types of engine subsystems, vehicle body works, and vehicle electronics.
Our students learn all the subsystems and then specialize in one or more during an engagement with the industry. Ramogi Institute is a center of excellence in automotive engineering, having received modern machines and equipment from the Government of Kenya and Devotra.
From the positive feedback we get from the industry; our students go out well trained to face the challenging world of automotive engineering. We partner with well-established firms, both national and regional, for our students’ industrial attachment and internship, which affords them opportunities to work on different automotive models and systems. We offer automotive engineering courses in three levels, Artisan, Certificates and Diploma, depending on the trainees’ entry grade.
