It’s a Multi-Skilled Profession that embraces a problem-solving approach through Social Case Work, Case Management, Group Work, Group therapy, Family Therapy, Community Organization, and Administration.
The main goals of Social Work Practice are to enhance Problem-Solving Coping and Development Capacities of People, Link People with Systems that provide them with resources, services, and opportunities, Promote the Effectiveness and Human Operation of systems that provide people with resources and services, Develop and improve social policy, Promote Human and Community well-being.
The future employment opportunities in social work and community development are excellent in both Government and Private agencies.The areas available include:- Foster homes, Adoption, Probation, Parole, Public assistance, Counselling Services, Day-Care services, School Social Services, Services to Population at risk, Services to Veterans, Recreational services such as Scouts and YMCA Programs, Social services in Medical or Mental Hospitals, Anti-Poverty Programs, Social services in Nursing Homes and other services to Older Persons, Marital Counselling, Drug and Alcohol Counselling, Services to the Emotionally disturbed, Abortion Counselling, Family Planning Services, Services to People with a Physical Disability, Sexual Counselling, Equal Rights Services, Protective Services, Services in Rehabilitation Centers, Research, Social Action, and Fund Raising
